If you work in the maritime industry, chances are you’re familiar with the Seaman’s Protection Act. The Act gives seamen immunity from punishment at the hands of employers for, among other things, violations of maritime safety regulations. The Act used to be enforced by federal courts, but Congress transferred the power to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in 2010.
