CERT in Action

CERT-gearWith the recent flurry of Disasters across the US, CERT Teams have shown the colors (Green that is!) Across the nation Community Emergency Response Team members have used their training to help others in their communities survive and recover from devastation of natural forces.

One story tell of how the Rowlett Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) had the chance to put its training to the test when the city in Texas was hit by a recent tornado. The team began clearing the roadway immediately for the larger vehicles like fire engines and ambulances. They started turning off gas valves knocked open from flying debris. CERT also played a hand in evacuating houses in the damaged area and ensuring victims were out safe and alive.
