Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
An AED is a Portable Electronic Device that Diagnoses the potentially life threatening Cardiac Arrhythmias of Ventricular Fibrillation and Ventricular Tachycardia and treats them through Defibrillation to re-establish an Effective Rhythm. The application of an AED to a victim in Sudden Cardiac Arrest can increase their chances of survival by up to 75%, but every minute that goes by without defibrillation, their chances of survival decrease by 7%-10%. For this very reason, every public and private building should have at least one AED on site, as it could very well be the matter of life or death to the unexpecting victim.
